Five days have passed since I got closure on the WordPress for Nokia issue thanks to some friendly people on Twitter, and I have spent some time doing other things with the phone. For one I installed Spotify and got a hold of a pair of BH-504 bluetooth headphones. The first pair I got worked for 5 minutes, but after disconnecting and turning them off they closed up completely when I fired them back up. It beeped twice and the little light went on both red and blue. Nothing worked – the thing wouldn’t even show up on bluetooth scans (I tried both to find it my phone and with a laptop).

The thing was promptly returned the next day and I got a new pair which works perfeclt. I’m using it all the time and the sound is great. A bit low when I listen to classical music, but for electronica, RnB, jazz and pop it works great. Even when I’m on my bike in down town traffic.

The only thing a bit annoying about this Spotify + BH-504 setup is that the play/pause button doesn’t work. Swapping tunes back and forth is no problem, but I can’t start or stop the music without taking up the phone. I expect this is a Spotify issue though, so I plan to try Nokia’s built in media player and see if the issue persists.

I’ve also had some bad sound when I’m talking on the phone using the bluetooth headset, but since this only happens when I’m by the computer at home and not while I’m at the lab, it’s probably some interference from somewhere.

The only real problem I have is that I don’t have a dataplan for this phone. I use wifi as much as I can, but you really need a decent dataplan to use this phone to it’s full potential. I have to check out those data rates again…
